Abstract
Life and rivers share an intimate communion that can only be understood by exploring and traversing their meanings. This article takes a journey seeking to reconnect us with the astonishing mystery of existence, tracing the complex and lengthy process of the evolution of Life on Earth, the position of the Earth in the Solar System, its structure and composition; the first continent and its separation, the continents' outer layer, photosynthesis, biodiversity, population growth, the cities we have built, dynamic geospheric equilibrium, homeostasis, the water cycle and natural renewability, the current distribution of water on Earth, the global risks identified by the World Economic Forum, and the planetary environmental crisis. This journey seeks a single goal: to help us understand and recognize that water is essential for life and for the social and economic development of territories; that for people to effectively and sustainably access their rights, a healthy environment is required; that it is worth coming together, and that rivers are meeting grounds for the full enjoyment of rights and for discussing perspectives on solving socio-environmental problems.
