Conservation of Biodiversity and Forests in the Department of Antioquia: A Perspective from the Aburrá Valley

Abstract

Medellín and the Aburrá Valley share responsibility for the sustainability of the region through the conservation of forests and biodiversity in general. It is therefore necessary to reflect on the policies adopted by all public institutions and the private sector, so that the knowledge generated in academia and other institutions can have a lasting impact. In the same vein, it remains important to continue engaging citizens in conservation processes, recognizing that the city generally depends on surrounding areas and that, while progress has been made within its own territory, much work remains to be done.
