Medellín: Urban Violence, Territory, and Habitat

Abstract

Colombia's urban territory took shape largely in the wake of the national conflict that followed the assassination of Jorge Eliécer Gaitán in the mid-20th century, and was further shaped over the following decades by a population subjected to the renewed effects of violence. This text focuses particularly on the case of Medellín and attempts to offer some elements for social and political action, aiming, through reflection, to contribute to building ways out of the conflict from the perspective of integrated urban territorial management.
