Abstract
Written by a social communicator from Corporación Guardabosques, this article offers a critical essay on the historical situation of the Colombian peasantry, arguing that while it is not accurate to say the countryside has been forgotten, the peasantry as a social subject has indeed been neglected. The author traces how the constitutional protection of food production enshrined in 1991 faded away with the economic opening of the 1990s, and analyzes the forced displacement and migration that emptied the countryside of its traditional inhabitants. The text poses the dilemma between the disappearance or transformation of the peasantry, contrasting the institutional conception of ecological agriculture as a "green business" with the vision held by social organizations.
