Abstract
This article presents the progress of the Aburrá Valley Regional PGIRS, an initiative led by the Aburrá Valley Metropolitan Area with CORANTIOQUIA's subsequent involvement as of August 2005. The authors describe the development of a 2020 regional vision, the formation of the Regional Coordinating Group, and present concrete progress: two versions of the regional diagnosis, a waste-generation projection model, physical-chemical characterization completed in 7 of 10 municipalities, and 16 sessions of the "Let's All Listen to Each Other" discussion series at the Universidad de Antioquia. The text also documents a National PGIRS Seminar and 650 perception surveys applied to various regional stakeholders.
