BIOEXPO 2005 Colombia, International Supplier of Environmentally Friendly Goods and Services

Abstract

Written by the Director General of BIOEXPO Colombia 2005, this article presents the second edition of this biodiversity goods-and-services fair, held as part of Corantioquia's tenth anniversary. The author describes the trade exhibition of more than 170 exhibitors presenting bio-fertilizers, waste-treatment technologies, biotechnologies, and recycled products, amid negotiations over the FTA with the United States and its implications for access to genetic resources. The text details the event's complementary components: a Business Roundtable with more than 120 companies, a Financial Roundtable with green-credit lines, the signing of the Colombian Network of Environmentally Friendly Community Producers, and the launch of RED BIO for biodiversity researchers.
