Antioquia Technology Park: Environment, Region, and Development

Abstract

Written by the Manager of the Antioquia Technology Park (PTA), this article presents the philosophy and progress of this knowledge-intensive regional development strategy, located in eastern Antioquia and integrated within the University-Business-State framework. The author contextualizes the PTA within the global landscape of technology parks, citing cases such as Silicon Valley and the Basque Country's parks, and notes that Colombia invests just 0.5% of its GDP in science and technology. The text describes the PTA's concrete progress: the Intelligent Control Center, the first Seed Biofactory, the Organoponic model transferred to eastern Antioquia municipalities as a contribution to food security, and its international partnerships with institutions in Spain, Cuba, Canada, UNESCO, and UNDP.
