Environmental Culture and Food Security with a Sustainability Vision in Corantioquia's Jurisdiction

Abstract

Written by the Coordinator of Corantioquia's Ecological Homesteads project, this article analyzes the relationship between environmental sustainability and food security based on the four classic dimensions of the concept: availability, access, biological utilization, and consumption habits. The author presents Corantioquia's Ecological Homesteads project, an educational and productive strategy that has engaged more than 7,000 families across the Corporation's 80 municipalities, achieving significant production in minimal spaces and reducing solid-waste generation by up to 60% among participating urban families. The text concludes that the sustainability of these processes depends on communities having prior farming traditions.
