Abstract
This article presents a history of solid-waste management from antiquity to current policy in Colombia and Antioquia. The author details the Colombian regulatory framework and presents a departmental diagnosis with figures on waste generation and final-disposal status across Antioquia's subregions, identifying the Aburrá Valley as the largest generator.
