Abstract
This article presents a historical and biological overview of fungi, reviewing their traditional use across different cultures, with mention of the Reishi mushroom. The author describes fungi's trophic strategies and ecological function, documenting the cultivation potential of species such as oyster mushroom and shiitake in Colombia, with food and therapeutic applications.
