Colombia's Nationwide Action Plan for Commercial Reforestation, an Alternative to Pressure on Natural Forests

Abstract

For the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, commercial reforestation represents a production alternative to the use of natural forest, as it helps prevent the deterioration of forest ecosystems by meeting industrial demand for timber. To this end, the Ministry has drawn up a Commercial Reforestation Action Plan aimed at making it a driving force for growth in the agricultural sector, contributing to the improvement of the national economy and the quality of life of Colombians, while also helping reduce pressure on natural forests and mitigate climate change.
