Abstract
The environmental management carried out by Empresas Públicas de Medellín (EPM) in forests within the areas of influence of its hydroelectric projects in the department of Antioquia follows forestry guidelines defined by the company in compliance with its corporate social responsibility policy; it is implemented specifically through three programs: Villages (Aldeas), Reforestation Promotion, and Natural Cover Management, aimed at biodiversity conservation. Through these initiatives, EPM works to restore degraded areas near reservoirs and conserve ecosystems in these zones; likewise, it seeks to ensure that communities in these regions benefit from the projects, thereby mitigating the impact caused on local populations.
