Forests and the Digital Revolution

Abstract

The increase in efficiency and freedom brought about by the digital revolution should drive progress in humanity's civilizational process; this implies a shift in individual and collective consciousness and the adoption of a new stance toward forests, one that recognizes their intrinsic value and the shared responsibility to protect them. In this sense, the use of digital-revolution technological tools favors, as never before, the regional integration of Latin America toward forest conservation. Finally, some examples of ITTO projects carried out in Latin America are mentioned, within this new perspective characterized by the digital era.
