Abstract
Mining is a productive activity aimed at the rational use of mineral resources found in the soil or subsoil of national territory. These resources are scarce, are depleted through use, and necessarily require management under technical, economic, and social criteria that ensure the environmental sustainability of extraction, processing, and use — without which it is impossible to guarantee environmental conservation and the comprehensive development of the locality, the region, and the nation.
