Abstract

Written by participants of the Fifth City Congress held in Medellín in October 2010, this article summarizes the agenda elements proposed for building the Strategic Master Plan for the Metropolitan Region 2030. The authors present the Central Antioquia Region from a comprehensive, sustainable human development perspective and characterize nine challenging regional dynamics, including exclusionary economic development and the complex environment of violence linked to drug trafficking. The text develops six policy pillars for regional development, including an inclusive economic model and the strengthening of the Aburrá Valley Metropolitan Area.
