Abstract
Written by a political scientist working at the Antioquia Technology Park, this article presents the role of technology parks as cross-sector settings for the sustainable development of City-Regions. The author reviews pioneering international experiences such as the Sophia Antipolis Science Park in France, and presents global data on the rapid growth of these parks over the past decade. The text describes in detail the Antioquia Technology Park, its work on alternative energy through micro hydroelectric plants, and the BIOFábrica project, a biotechnology center that uses micropropagation to reproduce threatened plant species.
