Abstract

This article presents the environmental management of Mineros S.A., a company dedicated to gold extraction in the floodplain of the Nechí River (Antioquia), classified as large-scale mining. The text describes the annual intervention process on 125 hectares, whose remnants are transformed into artificial wetlands, noting that a study found no significant differences between these and natural wetlands. It documents the agroforestry-plot program for peasant families and rehabilitation projects for land degraded by informal mining, closing with 2008 social-impact figures and energy-crop projects.
