Abstract
This article surveys the major climatic cycles of the planet's geological history, from which the author argues that natural climate-change phenomena have historically been of much greater magnitude than human influence. In its second part, the text presents a technical analysis of the technological modernization of firing systems in Antioquia's red-brick ceramics industry between 1993 and 2008, calculating a 66.15% reduction in the sector's monthly particulate-matter emissions. Note: the author's interpretation of the causes of climate change differs from current scientific consensus on the predominant role of anthropogenic emissions.
