Abstract

Written by a Medellín city councilman elected for the 2008-2011 term, this article presents a statement of political commitment to the city's environmental management, identifying responsible water use as an initial concern and proposing legislative initiatives for its management within the City Council. The author announces his intention to strengthen the SIGAM and the PAM, as well as to promote the unification of urban and rural environmental authority under Corantioquia with clear delegation to the municipal Secretariat of the Environment. The text expresses support for environmental roundtables, the Pure Life Campaign, and the Central Antioquia Park project, closing with a call for the mass expansion of citizen environmental education in light of the urgency of climate change.
