Abstract
This document presents the Medellín Declaration on Climate Change, adopted in October 2007 as part of the International Academic Symposium of Expouniversidad 2007, convened by the Universidad de Antioquia. The text presents a diagnosis of the causes and consequences of global climate change, noting the differentiated responsibility of developed countries compared to tropical countries, and documents specific threats facing Colombia. The declaration puts forward concrete recommendations, including urging universal ratification of the Kyoto Protocol, proposing a Global Fund for Climate Change Adaptation, and calling on Colombian governments to adopt precautionary policies on natural-resource exploitation.
