Antioquia Agroecology School: A Joint Strategy Among Different Organizations

Abstract

Written by an agronomic engineer from the Corporación CIER and a social communicator from RECAB, this article presents the collective process of building an Antioquia Agroecology School, an initiative that brought together various NGOs across the department between 2002 and 2005 to strengthen rural education through peasant-to-peasant methodologies. The authors describe the proposal to establish a network of thirty Training Centers distributed across different regions with no fixed headquarters, and present the school's three core components: training, scientific-technical development and participatory research, and organization and consolidation. The text argues that the project's sustainability requires linking the families involved into a regional network including a solidarity economy and green markets.
