Abstract

Written by the Director of CEAM, this article presents the Peasant Training School in Agroecology process, implemented since 2003 in municipalities of eastern Antioquia, in response to the economic, social, and environmental unsustainability crisis facing peasant agricultural production in the region. The author presents the conceptual framework of agroecology as a discipline that studies agroecosystems holistically, with institutional support from entities such as Corantioquia, Cornare, and Isagén. The text describes the seven components of the peasant training program, aimed at forming peasant families as promoters of sustainable human development in their territories.
