Abstract
Written by an agronomic engineer with a PhD in Eco-ethology, this article presents a holistic conceptual approach to agroecology as the basis for designing projects such as Corantioquia's Ecological Homesteads. The author explains how modifying an ecosystem through monocultures creates ecological imbalances that favor pests and disease, arguing that agrochemicals attack the problem without preventing it. The text presents agroecology as a sustainable production alternative and develops a detailed comparative table between agroecological and conventional agriculture across multiple dimensions, showing the advantages of ecological management in terms of sustainability and soil health.
