Abstract

Proper solid waste management and the environmental conservation of ecosystems stand out among the most important problems to solve on the planet, since continuous population growth has led to an accelerated increase in the use of natural resources for creating new products, generating waste outputs that directly impact the environment. As a result, water, air, and soil have been affected by poor solid waste management, harming environmental quality; nations are now developing actions to mitigate and reduce these effects. With this same concern in mind, this article presents "Meaningful Waste" as an alternative that connects an environmental liability (landfills or surplus waste) with biodiversity, through educational and recycling strategies that directly help reduce greenhouse gas emissions, such as CO2, and encourage communities to embrace the fauna and flora of their everyday surroundings or their country.
